Prison in-reach project

We provide an In-Reach project at HMP Wandsworth. This has recently expanded to HMPs Thameside, Isis and Brixton, following the award of a grant from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund.

Our aim is to identify and work with ex-armed forces veterans in custody, through the prison gates and into the community to help improve their access to services and to reduce reoffending.

Our Clinical Nurse Specialists within each prison provide a specialist assessment of veterans' needs and help link them to suitable services both in custody and after release in the community.

These include services to help with mental health issues, problems with substance misuse, welfare, housing and employment.

We also aim to provide follow-up at the Veterans' Mental Health Transition, Intervention and Liaison (TIL) Service.
